Saturday, June 14 and Sunday, June 15, 2025 — Torrita di Siena hosts FERMENTO, the event that celebrates the fascinating encounter between two absolute protagonists of taste: beer and cheese. A festival that stirs curiosity, awakens taste buds, and inspires a desire to discover new horizons of flavor, while showcasing the best of local and national artisanal production.

The Encounter Between Beer and Cheese

While the pairing of wine and cheese is a timeless classic, the union of craft beer and cheese opens up lesser-known but highly intriguing frontiers. Beer, with its effervescence, wide range of styles, and balanced notes of sweetness, acidity, and bitterness, has the power to cleanse the palate while enhancing the complex aromatic nuances of cheeses.

From light, fruity beers that pair beautifully with fresh and creamy cheeses, to dark, full-bodied brews that complement aged varieties — each pairing is an exploration of harmony and contrast, a dialogue between textures, aromas, and character.

FERMENTO: More Than an Event, a Shift in Perspective

The Program

The historic center of Torrita di Siena will be transformed into a stage of taste. On Saturday, June 14, from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM, the village streets will host a traveling tasting experience among taverns, districts, and producers’ stands, offering the chance to try surprising beer and cheese pairings. Live music will enhance the lively and convivial atmosphere.

On Sunday, June 15, starting at 6:00 PM in Piazza Matteotti, a special highlight takes center stage: a guided tasting session curated by ONAF – National Organization of Cheese Tasters – and beer expert Francesco Ranzani. A journey through three artisanal beers paired with three selected cheeses, presented step-by-step by those who know the secrets of sensory tasting.

During this guided experience, participants will delve into:

  • the organoleptic characteristics of each product,

  • sensory tasting techniques,

  • the principles behind harmonious beer and cheese pairings.

An unmissable opportunity to savor the nuances of taste and engage directly with the producers, discovering the stories, supply chains, and passions behind every bite.
