Vino Nobile di Montepulciano: the preview is coming

Illustrious Francesco Redi, a scholar of the seventeenth century, in his dithyramb Bacchus in Tuscany decreed that Montepulciano is the king of all wines. Perhaps the Etruscans themselves, namely the very first founders of this town, had understood how precious the product of the vine was in this strip of land, the Valdichiana Senese, so much that they worshiped it during their Bacchic feasts.  In the Middle Ages, the lords of this small town were worthy of it: they dug cellars in the tuff, to preserve the heady nectar of the gods.

The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano has always been celebrated and appreciated for its powerful and persuasive qualities, as well as for its unmistakable ruby color. Let us not forget that Vino Nobile is one of the first Italian wines being awarded with the DOC label. In 1966, one year after the birth of the Consortium of producers, the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOC appeared for the first time on the Italian market. By putting into effect the Presidential Decree 930/1963,  this prized Tuscan wine is among the first ten Italian wines to be awarded with this quality label. After this goal, which marked the growth of its name, the Vino Nobile, once again in Italy, obtained the highest recognition in 1980: the DOCG label.

After two years of aging, as required by the product specification, the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is ready to be tasted. And where else could one pre-taste not only the Nobile 2015, as well Rosso di Montepulciano and Vino Nobile “Riserva” 2014. At the Annual Preview of the Vino Nobile. This event takes place every year at the Fortress of Montepulciano, and it is organized by the Consortium of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.

The 2018 edition, now upon us, will take place on February 10-11-12, and will be attended by over 40 producers of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Not only an event of presentation, but also a great opportunity for visitors, who will have the opportunity to meet producers directly, talk to them, ask questions, dissolve doubts about production, and taste multiple labels of Vino Nobile.

The Vino Nobile Annual Preview is therefore a unique opportunity for wine lovers: let us not forget that Montepulciano is the hub for a land featuring a rich artistic, cultural, and wine-and-food heritage, a magnificent territory also celebrated by Goethe in his Journey to Italy: the Valdichiana Senese. Well, why not take the chance? Stop for one night, taste the Vino Nobile, taste the other typical products of the Chianina cuisine, and finally immerse yourself in the beneficial thermal waters …

In short, treat yourself with an amazing weekend, in the spirit of a total rediscovery of the senses, in the magnificent land of the Valdichiana Senese.
