The Bruscello Poliziano

From the 12th to the 15th of August Montepulciano the Bruscello Poliziano under the Sign of Paolo and Francesca

From 13 to 16 August, Piazza Grande once again hosts one of Montepulciano's most iconic summer events: the Bruscello Poliziano.

Founded in 1939, the Compagnia Popolare continues the long-standing tradition of bringing medieval stories to life through performances inspired by the history of Montepulciano and beyond, transporting audiences back in time.

Combining folk singing and theatre, the Bruscello presents a different theme each year. The story, script and lyrics are all created by the bruscellanti, the local amateur performers who preserve this unique theatrical tradition out of passion and love for their cultural heritage.

For the 87th edition of the Bruscello, the company has chosen to stage "Saint Francis of Assisi", a production previously performed in 2010. True to the spirit of the festival, the performance blends theatre, traditional folk music and culture, creating a powerful and engaging story that continues to resonate with contemporary audiences.

The Bruscello Poliziano will be performed in the magnificent setting of the Cathedral square (Piazza Grande) in Montepulciano from 13 to 16 August 2025, with a preview performance—serving as the final dress rehearsal—taking place on the evening of 12 August.
