Tourism That Cares: Protecting Land and Empowering Communities
In the Valdichiana Senese, tourism is seen as an opportunity to enhance the territory, support local communities, and protect the environment. The travel experiences offered are a reflection of a philosophy aimed at promoting local uniqueness through tourism. With Valdichiana Living, we promote a conscious travel model that makes a lasting impression—without leaving a trace. In an effort to further solidify our commitment to safeguarding the region, Valdichiana Living has chosen to make this journey more transparent by drafting an Impact Report, developed in collaboration with Up2You.
Focus of the impact report
This initiative is focused on three main pillars:
Impact over the environment
Reducing environmental impact through the calculation and offsetting of CO₂ emissions - both direct and indirect - produced by Valdichiana Living, using an interactive platform.
Local stakeholders’ recognition
Exploring the relationship with the Valdichiana Senese area and strengthening collaboration with local stakeholders to support the region's economy and culture.
Mapping of the already undertaken safeguard activities
Promoting sustainable tourism, also through participation in projects such as CarTES – the Charter for Sustainable Food and Wine Tourism.
Carbon offset
During travel experiences, some emissions are difficult to eliminate entirely. To reduce or fully offset them, we’ve established a partnership with the technical provider Up2You to implement internationally certified environmental compensation projects.
These "credits," validated according to recognized standards such as the Verified Carbon Standard or the Gold Standard, ensure a tangible and measurable impact in emission reduction. Transparency is a core requirement in our structured path toward sustainability.
In 2024, 18% of calculated emissions were offset, equal to 88 tons of CO₂ eq (source: Up2You Climax platform). The offset investment supported certified biodiversity protection projects (technical information available here).
Transparency is a fundamental requirement for a structured path to sustainability.
