Giudeata Sacra
Good Friday becomes a living tradition in the historic center of Chianciano Terme
The Giudeata Sacra is an ancient tradition for the community of Chianciano Terme, with roots dating back to the 18th century. It is a reenactment of the Passion of Christ, held every Good Friday (the Friday preceding Easter) through the streets of the town’s historic center. Featuring around 150 local participants in historical costume, the procession starts at 9.30 p.m. from the Chiesa della Compagnia and concludes at the Chiesa Collegiata, where the adoration of the wooden Christ takes place.
Blending religion, folklore, and theatricality, the Giudeata Sacra creates an atmosphere rich in emotion and suggestion, an event that allows visitors to connect with the deep identity of the community and its enduring rituals.
